About
How I work:
I work relationally which means that the therapeutic relationship is at the heart of the work. I offer people an attuning, empathic holding environment, non-judgemental, confidential, safe and resonant healing space where the person's experiences, thoughts and feelings can be given room to be expressed and so you are heard, acknowledged and met by me. Central to the humanistic approach is that "you are the expert of you" and I help people to develope and unfold the intrinsic knowledge that each person holds inside themselves.
Working primarily from the humanistic theoretical base which encompasses and combines three established and developed and, highly effective therapeutic approaches: So I use the Person Centred approach to bring about what is present, in the now for the person. In addition, I work from Transactional Analysis to help person see what is happening in their communications and behaviours and I also draw on Gestalt Therapy to bring about more awareness, which is when shift and change can then happen. Working in the Humanistic approach means I have a wide ranging tool and skill set to work with and as everyone is unique this is intrinsic to tailoring the counselling for each person to bring about their development, awareness and movement and change in their life.
I am particularly interested in turning the light on and illuminating what is happening on the inside while everything is going on outside such as changes of job, life circumstances, major life transitions, to bring about more understanding for the person's integration and quality of being-ness to live with more health and wellbeing. I have successfully worked at a busy London clinic counselling clients with a whole range of issues. As well as having my private practice I also work for a community based charity.
